Dr. Joseph P. Farrell, historian and author of books on subjects from Nazis to pyramids likes to say, “I’m about to go off the proverbial twig.” By which he means he’s about to propose a theory that might sound a little crazy.
Today’s blog might be off the proverbial twig, but to me it makes sense. Follow along.
Christians understand the thought that Jesus could return at any moment. They may not believe it – or live like they believe it – but they’ve heard people say this. Now by return, most of us mean He’ll return to rapture His people.
The Greek word for “caught up” in the Bible is harpazô, which means “to snatch away” or “to seize”. The English word “rapture” comes from the Latin word raptus, which means “seized” or “carried away”.
So yeah, it IS in the Bible.
Anyway I’ve been listening to some great preachers online. Tom Hughes, Britt Gillette, L.A. Marzulli, Gary Stearman. They’re all part of “Prophecy Watchers.” Look for their channel on YouTube.
These men are preachers of the Word of God and have brought out how today’s events, especially in the Middle East, are right in line with what Scripture says about the run-up to the Tribulation. For the record, Christians will be out of this world when the Tribulation begins, but there’s a lot of technological, economical and political preparations that are being made by people who probably don’t have any idea they are paving the way for the Beast System (Rev. 13).
The one we call the Antichrist will be revealed after the church is removed AND when he signs a peace treaty with Israel. There are still a lot of preparations to happen, but as far as Scripture goes, there are no prophecies that need to be fulfilled before the Rapture can take place.
It literally can be at any moment.
I know, people have been saying that for 2,000 years. What’s different now?
1948. Israel returned to the land in fulfillment of prophecy. That changed everything.
For 2000 years people have been trying to set the date of the Lord’s return. One example in the 20th century is Herbert W. Armstrong who tried 4 times to predict the Lord’s return – 1936, 1943, 1945, and 1975. His final try was to say it would happen before he died. That was in 1986.
He’s not the only person in history who tried and tried again, only to fail. They could have saved time and reputation if they had read the Bible. Speaking of His return Jesus said:
“Now concerning that day or hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven nor the Son —but only the Father. Watch! Be alert! For you don’t know when the time is coming.” Mark 13:32-33 (CSB)
And yet Tik Tok and other social media sites are flooded with people who claim to know when the Rapture is going to happen.
In my lifetime there have been at least 20 predictions. None of which came true. That’s not even counting the end of the world prophecies, notably Y2K (the year 2000) and the Mayan prophecy of 2012. Yet here we still are.
So I’m not a date-setter, but Jesus also told us what the signs of his coming would be. Just like the Signs of Spring (check out my blog by that title), we know when we see the first Robin and the first daffodil spring is on its way.
Now here comes my off the twig moment. I’d like to add one more (unofficial, specific to only me) sign of Jesus’ Coming.
One of my concerns, even as I look for the Rapture, is what will happen to my cats. I’ve asked the Lord to open the backdoor so they at least can get outside and hunt. Mickey and Luna would be fine in this case. But Dave I wasn’t so sure about.
It’s been a great concern for me. So when Dave got sick, even though I desperately wanted him to stay, I had to face the truth that he wasn’t going to make it. When I realized this my thoughts turned to my end of the twig speculation. Was this the Lord’s way of relieving my fears regarding Dave’s ability to survive on his own? I’m falling off the end of the twig, I know. And yet the Lord has given me the peace I needed to accept Dave’s death. I can’t help but see it as yet another sign that the Lord’s Return is near.
Whatever your feelings are about pets, please respect MY feelings. My cats are my emotional support. The Lord cares about our feelings and concerns no matter how trivial they may seem to others.
The Return is near, whether my twig theory is correct or not. The question is, Are you ready? Have you given your life to the Lord? And if you are saved, are you living your life for the Lord? Commit yourself to read the Bible, especially the New Testament. See what it says about Jesus and His return.
If you’re not ready, get ready. Ask Jesus into your heart today. You don’t want to be left behind.
