Writing for Both Children and Adults

My first sale was to Highlights for Children. It was a story called, “The Sighting.” You can still find the story online if you do a google search.

My first children’s book, What Kind of Cow Are You? was published in 2006 by Journey Stone Creations. In between writing the two stories I wrote several articles for Pennsylvania Magazine and many others.

I’ve been surprised to find my niche in not only writing for middle graders (ages 8 – 12), but also for devotional magazines. Trust me – writing devotionals is harder than you think! I have written for Open Windows, The Quiet Hour, Journey for Women, and Cup of Comfort for Women.

The best place to go to learn more about me is My Blog page. I’ll be sharing lots of stories of my faith journey and my life on the farm.

If you are a media outlet or a school looking for more information go to my Media Page.

Order my new early middle grade novel for readers ages 8 – 12. Follow the journey of thirteen-year-old Frislin Destine from the hopeless and desolate  streets of Port au Paix, Haiti to a place of hope in Cap Hatien. Only one thing can ruin his new life — the arrival of his old nemesis, Stefan. Can Frislin learn to forgive?

Read what people are saying

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.  The characters are so real, their thoughts so believable, their emotions vividly expressed, and the ending just as your heart wants it to be. Joyann Dwire  has written a story that young people will enjoy spending time with. – Mrs. Cathy Colbert, retired Middle School teacher.

A handy guide and devotional that will help the reader of When Chickens Have Teeth understand the unique culture and way of life in Haiti. Each unit is accompanied by a short devotional where you’ll see some of the crazy stories of my life that maybe you can relate to.

Mitzi Needs A Friend is a revised version of What Kind of Cow Are You? My original book has gone out of print and the publisher has gone out of business. So I did a new version of the book using Canva art. Your younger readers may enjoy it.
